Firewalls - My computer is within a company network?

Our player is Certified with a Digital Signature, so you know it is from a trusted source. If your company firewall is still blocking the download or its use, our systems will likely auto detect this and provide a display and link to a compatible stream for you. If the auto detect does not work for you, it will bring you back to the install display. The Company Firewall stream link is also listed there.

Connecting Channel Is Slow - Sometimes the connecting of the channel is slow?

When there are few users of a channel, the connecting may be slow. You can always press F5 to refresh the player and that will quick start you.

Software Needed - What software do I need besides the Jetcast Player?

Windows Internet Explorer 6 or greater. Go Get It.
Windows Media Player 9 or greater. Go Get It.

You, of course, will also need to have a soundcard and speakers, which are normal for most PCs.

What kind of computer should I have to use the Jetcast Player?

A Pentium 3 running at 1 GHz or faster will keep up with the processing requirements of today's video streams. To ensure best performance, get lots of RAM -- at least 128 MB, more if you can afford it. Of course, the faster the computer the better.

Trouble Installing or Playing?

ActiveX Controls - The Jetcast plug in is an ActiveX Control. If you are using Windows XP or Vista, your security setting level may require you to approve the use of an ActiveX Control from Jetcast. Jetcast is digitally certified, so you will have no problems with using Jetcast. Just approve and allow all request prompts for the ActiveX.

MAC Users - If you have problems with the MAC link in the player, you need to install Windows Media Player on your MAC. Please go to www.microsoft.com download center and search for media player for MAC. Most all MACs have WMP.

Windows XP - If you are using XP, as a general rule you will want to make sure it is receiving updates periodically. With an updated XP PC, you may run into problems installing with some of the Internet Explorer 6 and 7 versions. In these cases, you will go through an install and you will be continually prompted to install even though you have already. To fix this, please go to Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, remove Jetcast 1.1.1. This is because it was not installed correctly. Then, please go to www.microsoft.com, choose Downloads & Trials on the right side, choose Download Center at the top, choose Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP SP2, go through the install process and reboot. Then, go back to the station and install Jetcast and you should be good to go. The problem is that over time, your PC has developed security holes and such that need to be patched. This upgrade is a good thing for your PC.

Windows Vista - The only problems that might be found with a need to update Internet Explorer from www.microsoft.com.

Firefox - To install our Firefox addon, please click here to install.

If you installed the Firefox add-on and it is not working, go to Tools and choose IE Tab Options. Make sure that http://jetcast.com and www.jetcast.com are enabled. You can do this by clicking on the dot next to it to leave a larger green dot (enabled), then apply and ok.

Restrictive Network at work - Jetcast is network friendly. To solve your problem, there are a few solutions. (1) ask you admin to approve the Jetcast.com website if you are being blocked from accessing; (2) ask your admin for the right to install if you are being blocked from installing; or (3) ask your admin to open ports 3900 to 13900 if you are able to install and see buffering 100% and hear nothing or the media control area in the bottom right does not show Connecting, Buffering or Playing in the black area. If you can not get your admin to do these, please e-mail support@jetcast.com and we will get you going.

How fast does my Internet connection have to be?

Our network is being provided primarily for broadband subscribers (DSL, Cable, or T1). Check in your local area to see if you have it available.

Firefox Users - How do I install for Firefox?

Utilities like McAfee & Norton - I have a utility that is not cooperating?

We have found that some of the older versions of utilities like Norton and such can be a little restrictive. The easiest way is to update your service, as they accept standards based broadcasters like Jetcast. In the end, you may only need to allow for Jetcast, choose not to be prompted for Jetcast, or lower your security to a normal level. Jetcast is a defined and monitored network that avoids any outside interference or risk of contamination.

Player Hasn't Been Initialized - I sometimes receive this message?

This message can be received for two (2) reasons. First, when the Jetcast Player has been started while images or other objects are not completely loaded. This problem is only temporary and the player will start after you acknowledge the message and hit the space bar if requested. If this problem persists, please do a print screen and send to contact@jetcast.com. Second, if this message is shown along with the IE crash image below, this is probably caused if you are behind a very restrictive IT software like 'WebSense'. These network restricting systems are meant to limit streaming, email, P2P services and the like within company networks. You should ask your IT guys to allow Jetcast on your workstation.

My IE crashed - The channel will not play and my Internet Explorer crashed?

This message may be cause for two (2) reasons. First, as described just above. Second, because a file in your Internet Explorer or the Jetcast Player has been damaged for whatever reason. To resolve an Internet Explorer file problem, please click here to update your IE. To resolve a Jetcast Player file problem, please click here for our .exe file or click here for our .zip file. Internet Explorer is the usual suspect. If this problem persists, please do a print screen and send to contact@jetcast.com.

Can Not Retrieve Data... - The Jetcast Player states this in its information box?

This information is displayed when the player on your PC has not been able to connect to a source or other user. This is usually caused when there a few users. If it happens, please just select the channel again. The second try will have better opportunity for a connection.

Still Won't Stream - I have installed the player and have the minimum reqs?

If you have successfully installed the Jetcast Player, have IE 6 or greater and have WMP 9 or greater, then there a few things to consider.

* Remove the cookies on your computer.
* Update your WMP to the latest.
* Update your IE to the lastest.
* Turn off any highly restrictive applications like Norton and other utilities.

If you still have problems, we want to know about it. Please e-mail contact@jetcast.com and provide us details such as (1) connection type, (2) browser type and version, (3) WMP version, and (4) messages you have received.

Updating Player - When I am updating the Jetcast Player, I receive error messages?

To successfully update a software, you can not have it running when updating. The Jetcast Player runs behind the scenes of your browser and it is accessed only when needed. When you select to update your Jetcast Player, please close your browser during the install sequence so files currently accessed can be overwritten.

The video will not start on a Jetcast channel. What is wrong?

Assuming you have already downloaded and installed the Jetcast Player, this problem can happen for four (4) reasons. The route to your connection through your ISP is having problems, your Internet Explorer is having problems, you may need the latest version of the Jetcast Player, or your Internet Explorer security is set to a high level.

To get the most recent version of the Jetcast Player, you can normally find it on the home page of Jetcast or on our download page in the Help section. Download, save to desktop, install or install using the desktop icon you created and start playing.

2. Choose Internet Options
3. Select the Security tab
4. Click on the Internet globe icon
5. Click on the Custom Level Button below
6. Enable all the ActiveX options (There are normally seven (7) of them)
7. Click on the Okay to accept the changes
8. Remaining in the Security tab, click on the green Trusted Sites icon
9. Click on the Site button
10. Enter in http:///www.jetcast.com
11. Click Okay to accept the change
12. Click Okay to totally get out of the Internet Options window

Player Crashes when exiting - My Internet Explorer will crash when exiting, sometimes?

Crashing of your IE browser (player window) is due to windows media player that is integrated into the player. This is purely due to windows media player's behavior with the standard Java on your PC. You will very likely experience this with other similar sites until you correct the problem, because your Java is not working correctly.

If you upgrade to the newest version of Java, click here to update your Java for Windows, then this will not happen at all.

Why does my Internet Explorer sometimes CRASH?

As with all programs and plug-ins, Windows Media Player and/or web browsers can freeze or crash your computer. This should not happen on a regular basis, but when using a demanding application like a streaming video player try not to have others programs running that might be using system resources. If it seems that the player you are using is causing continual problems, please contact the support department for Microsoft Windows Media Player problems at MicroSoft.

If this happens regularly when you are only on the Jetcast website, you should download our latest Jetcast Player. You can find it at Help, Downloads or you may find it on our home page. After downloading, please install and it will overwrite the previous Jetcast Player version. If your problem persists, please contact us.

How do I change My Profile information, such as Password, and E-mail Address?

You can go to Members, go to My Profile, change your Password or E-mail Address, and then select Update Information.

Why does my Full Screen kick back to the normal player screen?

The Full Screen will kick out periodically because of the RAM memory on your computer. The Full Screen is more sensitive and sometimes the Full Screen just kicks out. This does not cause any problems for your PC or RAM memory. You may want to reduce the number of applications you are currently running on your PC. That will decrease the sensitivity.

I lost my Member Name / Password. How do I find it?

You can go to Log In and select "click here", if you have lost your Member Name or Password. Only Members with broadcasts are required to provide Jetcast an E-mail Address. So, if we do not have your E-mail Address, you can simply just create another account.
